There are different types of tickets to The Archaeological Park of Machu Picchu. This ticket is administered by The Regional Directorate of Culture – Cusco (DRC-C) which include different activities within the same archaeological sanctuary of Machu Picchu. These tickets must be purchased a considerable amount of time in advance. Ticket to the Citadel of Machu Picchu
This entrance ticket to the citadel of Machu Picchu includes entrance and exploration of the entire citadel of Machu Picchu from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. for the first shift or the second shift from 12.00pm to 5.30pm.
Ticket to Machu Picchu + Huayna Picchu Mountain
This entrance ticket allows, in addition to the tour of the citadel of Machu Picchu between 6 am and 12:00 pm, the ascent of the Huayna Picchu mountain. There are two turns to climb, the first being between 7 and 8 am and the second between 10 and 11 a.m. The route takes approximately 2 and a half hours depending on your fitness level and there are only 400 tickets available per day for entry to the Huayna Picchu mountain. We recommend booking 4 to 5 months in advance to ensure availability.
Ticket to Machu Picchu + Machu Picchu Mountain
If you are unable to secure a ticket to Huayna Picchu this ticket for the Machu Picchu mountain is a very good alternative. This entrance ticket allows you, in addition to entrance to the citadel of Machu Picchu, to climb to the top of the Mountain Machu Picchu in a journey of about 3 hours. There are only 500 tickets available per day. It is a much less crowded tour in which you can observe spectacular views from which you can take the most famous photos of Machu Picchu you can also appreciate part of the mountain range of Vilcanota.
Ticket to Machu Picchu + Museum
In addition to the tours to the citadel of Machu Picchu and the mountains of Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu, you have the opportunity to enter the Machu Picchu Museum. As of July 1, 2017, the entrance and visit to the Archaeological Park National Machu Picchu will be made into two shifts. The first shift will be from from 06:00 am to 12:00 noon, the second shift will be from 12:00 noon to 5:30 pm with a limit of 2500 visitors per day.
- There are two different schedules that can be chosen for entry to the Huayna Picchu mountain the first group is from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and the second group is from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Ascent to the peak is approximately two hours.
- Entrance to Machu Picchu mountain is from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The ascent to the top of the mountain lasts for approximately three hours depending on your physical condition.
- The time of admission to Manuel Chávez Ballón’s site museum, which was located at the foot of the citadel of Machu Picchu is from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
In 2011, the option to buy tickets through the Internet became available. You are also still able to buy tickets in the city of Cusco or Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo).
It is recommended that tourists who plan to visit Machu Picchu and Hauyna Picchu purchase their ticket via the internet well in advance. Attention: Entrances to Huayna Picchu
There may be problems in the availability to the mountain of Huayna Picchu since they usually run out very quickly. It is advisable is book it many months in advance.
